ROLLER COSTER DESIGNING COMPETITION

National Science centre celebrated National Science Day of 28th Feb 2017.They organized innovation challenge to prepare Roller coster using chart paper and marbles. Three students Hemanth Kumar, Akansha Negi and Akansha Mahalwal of class 12th won consolation prize in the competition.

LOVENEW ACHIEVEMENTS

Lovenew of class VIII participated in the NSC (National Science Concours) camp from 18th June to 23th June at Shoolini University at Solan in Himachal Pradesh. He cleared level 1 and level 2 with very good marks, an all India rank of 21 and state rank of 3 in Delhi. He was awarded with a Trophy and a Certificate for distinguished performance. He was also given the Young Scientist award for his work on 'Effect of music on plants'.

HINDI DEPARTMENT

To instill creativity and communication skills, the students are encouraged to participate in various competitions including the Inter-Ramjas and Inter-School Competitions in Hindi, such as Swarachit, Kavya Rachna in Mother's International School, Junior Hindi Debate competition in Indian School and Interstate Debate competition organized by Hindi Academy. In this competition Lakshita Gaur of class 10-B and Kashvee of class 9-B got gold medal and special cash prize of Rs.1000/- each. Teacher Mrs. Dhiraj Darbari who prepared them also received a gold medal. In Inter-Ramjas Competitions we participated in Doha-Chaupai recitation of Ram Charit Manas, Calligraphy, Kavita Recitation, Baal Kavi Sammelan and Creative Writing Competition. In Baal Kavi Sammelan Katyayani of class 7thA got 1st prize, Khushi Dixit of Class 9th B got IInd prize and Nav Guleria of Class 5th C got IIIrd Prize.

HEMKESH AGRAWAL

On the 16th of august I was scrolling through my mails when I came across one mail with the subject - "CONGRATS! Hemkesh Agrawal Join us at Survive & Thrive 2017". It was the most exhilarating moment in my life. The probability of my being selected was less than 1% because almost 4000 startups applied for this boot camp and only 15 were selected. My invention - Be-Hold a wearable glove especially targeted for visually impaired people was selected. The glove has 12 touch-points in the finger regions, which are made up of conductive fabric. When touched, these points can provide capacitive touch (just like the touch screens of phones) and enables its users to operate their phones via simple hand gestures.

On 6th September, I took off for an exciting ten day journey to New York City for the programme .On my first day while having breakfast , I met Sachin Narode, CEO of Xeniapp and Survive and Thrive and had a nice discussion about the boot camp. The next day we went to Club Getaway, Kent, Connecticut where various activities were held .Then I went for a hike to the hills of the club. I could see the whole place from the top of the hill. That day I learned that journey of an entrepreneur is same as a hike. There are lots of hurdles, obstacles, steep path which discourages you and make you feel like "I shouldn't do it" but you need the power and will to overcome all these obstacles because the final goal is very beautiful!

Next day we had a one to one mentoring sessions where I met Ryan Foland who told me about marketing, Noelle Santos who shared her experience on crowd funding and Rafeal Gordan who helped me understand global leadership. After this mentoring session I attended the talk by Susie Carder. $1, $5, $10, and $20 dollar notes were hidden all around the room, so I learnt that - "Money is EVERYWHERE, we have toget out of our seats and find MONEY". This session was followed by pitches by the top twelve startups. After this I went to various places like zoo, Tesla showroom etc.

Survive and Thrive, was an extraordinary startup bootcamp and I haven't seen or attended any such bootcamps before. It was one of its kind and very well managed event at a beautiful place just outside the New York City. I learnt a lot about the life of an entrepreneur, how to overcome the fear of public speaking, importance of team work, and how to give a perfect pitch. I will apply each and everything I learnt in this bootcamp and will try to improve and become even better.

BizzUp Start-up Awards 2017 - Adjudged as "The Best Start-up of the year"

Story of Makers 2017 (Mumbai) - Bagged the First Prize from among 200 participants and won a cash-prize of Rs.25,000

Maker Mela 2017 (Mumbai) - The event was a 2 day exhibition of only Top 100 Makers of India who were selected from among thousands of entries

Selected among top 20 entrepreneurs from India to visit a startup bootcamp "Survive & Thrive" in Kent, Connecticut, USA followed by meetings in silicon valley USA. The trip is of 7 days and is fully sponsored by the company "India Network".

Gave a talk to a group of over 50 visually impaired students at Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) in Delhi on the occasion of Science Day Celebrations. The talk was about my project "Be-Hold – A glove for the visually impaired"

Addressed an audience of 20-30 students and young entrepreneurs at Tech Delhi - Hack of the Month event held at Okhla, New Delhi in July 2017.
