A report - Kevin Durant's visit to Ramjas School R K Puram

28th July 2017 was a memorable day for Ramjas School, R K Puram. American professional Basketball player Kevin Durant of the Golden State Warriors, NBA (USA) inaugurated two new synthetic basketball courts in the School. The NBA finals 'MOST VALUABLE PLAYER' (MVP) is currently is the toast of the town, having led his side, the Golden State Warriors, to a title win and establishing himself as arguably the best player of his generation. His visit to India and especially to Ramjas School, R.K.Puram generated a lot of buzz in the capital city. The 6 feet 9 inch tall, Kevin was on India visit to encourage the game of Basketball. Ramjas School, R K Puram has been hosting Ramjas School Basketball Champions League for last 22 years. Over 2000 students from Delhi and NCR have been participating in this mega event. This led to National Basketball Association taking an active interest in promoting the game in the school. The NBA proposed to build two basketball courts in Ramjas School, R.K.Puram, New Delhi and Kevin Durant Charity Foundation (USA) agreed to fund the same. On 28th July Kevin Durant along with Mr. Carlos Barroca Senior Director, Basketball Operations NBA India and the other members visited the school. Mr. Barroca interacted with the school basketball team and taught them some tricks and new skills that filled the children with enthusiasm. The school foyer depicted the school's motto and dedication for basketball. The vibrant Rangoli and the excited children with colourful pompoms cheered and welcomed Kevin Durant. The whole atmosphere was filled with chants of "KD, KD, KD". The school had installed cameras and drone to record this historic event. Kevin Durant inaugurated the school court with his signature specialization three-pointer shot. In the basketball court, the Chairman Ramjas Foundation Shri Raj Kumar Guptaji, School Chairman Mr. Ravi Kumar Guptaji, School Manager Shri Raj Nath Guptaji and the School Principal Mrs. Rachna Pant warmly greeted Kevin. In her speech Ms. Pant thanked Kevin for his philanthropy and generosity. He took photographs with the school Basketball team, gave autographs to the lucky students. "He is God of Basketball. We are fortunate and blessed to have him in our school," said a student of Ramjas, R.K.,Puram. Rannvijay Singh Singha, an Indian television host added to the euphoria in the school. The event filled Ramjasietes with pride. Ramjas School, R.K Puram is the first school in India to be honoured with the KDCF (Kevin Durant Charity Foundation) Basketball courts and Kevin Durant's visit. "This day will go down in the annals of Ramjas history," said Ms Rachna Pant, Principal of the school and a big fan of Kevin Durant.


INTERACT CLUB- Students and parent's generous contribution in the form of clothes, food items, toys etc have been sent to different organisation in need Orphanage , Old Age Home, Blind School and Cancer Hospital etc.

PAPER RECYCLING MACHINE - This year Paper recycling machine have been installed in the school with collaboration Rotary Club. First a two weeks training was organised for the students and now students have started working on it independently. Out of these papers students have already prepared letter pads which were given to our esteems guests of RBCL and beautiful wrapping papers. We plan to use this new machine at its optimum.

COUNSELLING - School counselor talks to the students and the parents and try to solve the problem and help them to select the right path. For this time to time orientation programmes are kept for the students and parents in the school





Students interaction with the Chief Minister , Ms.Sheila Dixit

Students of Ramjas School , R.K.Puram , Sector-IV met the Chief Minister Smt.Sheila Dixit in connection with their Civic Education project on the harmful effects of the use of plastic. In the course of her interaction with the children the Chief Minister explained that littering of plastic bags not only makes the surrounding filthy, but also pollutes the environment . She added since plastic bags do not undergo any natural destruction , they affect the fertility of soil and their yield. Plastic bags choke the drain pipes and cause floods during the rainy season . This in turn results in spreading of water borne diseases and traffic blockade during rainy season .This made the Government to enact a law to ban the use of plastic bags and impose a fine upto 1 lakh and/or imprisonment for defying such ban. She advised children that they should maintain a healthy environment for developing a healthy mind.


Organ Donation Campaign (Project Citizen)

Students of class IX of Ramjas School, R.K.Puram working on "Project Citizen", a civic education programme have taken up Organ Donation as their topic because they believe that it means gifting a life. They visited ORBO department in AIIMS and submitted 40 forms there. They also met Mrs. Arti Mehra, ex-Mayor of Delhi and listened to her views on organ donation . They went to many residences in Sector IV , R.K.Puram to know the views of the people and were glad to know that most people agreed to donate their organs. Doctors from Venu Eye Hospital came to the school and enlightened the group on eye transplants. The children distributed many forms to the parents during the PTM in school .

The group strongly believes that if everyone pledges to donate organs one can certainly end the problem of organ shortfall. Through this project we at Ramjas, R.K.Puram are teaching values, compassion and sensitivity towards social issues to the youth of our country.


School adopts a Girl Child, Sonia

The members of Intercat Club of Ramjas School , R.K.Puram visited Deepalaya , an NGO working towards the betterment of underprivileged children . The school has adopted a Girl child named Sonia who is a student of Ramditti Junior Narang Deepalaya School. The interact club donated a sum of Rs.7000/- to the Head of the school. The club has made this an ongoing project to take care of Sonia’s education till Class XII.


Blood Donation Camp

A blood donation camp was organized by the Interact Club of Ramjas School ,Sector IV, R.K.Puram, New Delhi-22 in association with Rotary Club of Delhi, South East. It was facilitated by Rotary Blood Bank, Delhi. The Interact Club Incharge, Ms. Charu Arora coordinated the camp under the able guidance of the School Principal , Mrs. Rachna Pant. A plethora of activities like poster making , pamphlet distribution , special assembly , communication on special media , rally etc. were conducted to spread awareness about the importance of blood donation and clear all misconceptions and myths about the same. The parents were sent circulars regarding the do's and dont's of blood donation. The President of Rotary Club of Delhi , South East, Mr. Vivek Bhatnagar and the District Director , New generation, Mr. Sanjeev Jawahar along with a few other Rotarians and Rotariannes also attended the camp. The school Principal thanked all the organizers , volunteers and donors for their support and cooperation which made this event a huge success


Rain Water Harvesting

The Interact Club of Ramjas School, R.K.Puram celebrated the prestigious ceremony of inauguration of Rain Water Harvesting Project sponsored by Rotary Club of Delhi , South East on 7th July 2014. This project will ensure saving of a large amount of rain water and serving many purposes.

UK report

Folklore project in collaboration with UK Droitwich Spa High School saw an exciting start in its 2nd year, with the selection of a new topic. Rachel Thomson, English teacher at Droitwich chose for us the play ’Much Ado About Nothing’ by Shakespeare this year. The project was assigned to all the three sections of class VIII.





Ramjas school, rk puram celebrated its annual function on 23 november,2016. The school premises were mesmerizingly decorated by the schools creative team. To grace the occasion, the guests of honour present were Mr. somnath parthui & dr. kuldeep sehgal accompanied by the chairperson, principal of the school and other honourable members of the Ramjas foundation. The event started with lighting of the lamp by the chief guests and principal. Then the choir group sang hymn in the praise of god. Next in the line was a dazzling performance by the orchestra group who melodiously gave an ode to some of the old Bollywood hits. The choir group was next with their euphonious voices; they sang a multilingual song in praise of the river ganga. Next was an amazing performance by the tiny tots of Ramjas succeeded by a soulfully active yoga performance by students of class 1 and 2.the audience was truly spellbound by some of their yoga postures. The umbrella dance and drill by students of class 3,4 and 5 left the audience awestruck followed by the prize distribution ceremony in which the school honours and nurtures the young academic achievers and appreciates students achievement in field of sports and creative arts. The principal addressed the audience and gave the annual report of the school and thereafter the chief guests motivated the students with inspiring words. Afterwards the school heads gave report of their respective departments like sports, academics and cultural achievements. Then was an authentically beautiful performance by the students of classes 6,7,8 and 9. They gave a glimpse of the Punjabi traditional dance bhangda. they concluded the performance with a fusion of acrobats and the bhangda dancers. The programme ended with the National Anthem.

Ramjas Basketball Champions League 2017

The most prestigious Inter- School Basket Ball Tournament Ramjas Basket Ball Champions League (RBCL), hosted by Ramjas School, R.K.Puram, is played amongst the leading schools of the Capital and NCR. It has grown to become the largest tournament in India at school level. The Tournament is recognized by elite organisations like FICCI, ONGC, Nestle, Libon, Syndicate Bank, Fairgaze, Delhi Basket Ball Association and Junior NBA, India. It is a delight to watch over 2000 young sports enthusiasts from all zones of Delhi and NCR fighting it out for the coveted trophy. RESULTS: The First Postions have been bagged by: SENIOR CATEGORY BOYS: MODERN SCHOOL, BARAKHAMBA ROAD GIRLS: MONTFORT, ASHOK VIHAR JUNIOR CATEGORY BOYS: BAL BHARTI PUBLIC SCHOOL, GANGA RAM MARG GIRLS: DELHI PUBLIC SCHOOL, R.K.PURAM PRIMARY CATEGORY BOYS: RAGHUBIR SINGH JUNIOR MODERN SCHOOL, HUMAYUN ROAD GIRLS: SCOTTISH HIGH, GURUGRAM The Closing Ceremony for the 23rd Edition of RBCL was held on 30th November 2017 at 11 a.m. at Ramjas School, R.K.Puram. it was a great honour for the school to have Col. Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, Honourable Minister of State (Independent Charge), Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, as the Chief Guest. The members of the Ramjas Foundation Sh. D.C. Mittal, President, Ramjas Foundation; Sh. Raj Kumar Gupta, Chairman, Managing Committee; Sh. Ravi Kumar Gupta, Honorary Secretary, Ramjas Foundation & Chairman, Ramjas School, R.K.Puram; Sh. G.S. Moondhra, Honorary Secretary, Managing Committee; Sh. Raj Nath Gupta, Manager, Ramjas School, R.K.Puram graced the occasion and expressed their pleasure over the presence of the Honourable Minister. They added that his presence would go a long way in encouraging and developing a love for sports in this generation. Being a sports person himself, Col. Rathore emphasized the importance of outdoor activities and Sports in the life of children. He congratulated the Principal, Mrs. Rachna Pant, Convener of the Tournament on the stupendous growth of the Championship over the last few years. He added that with such dynamic leaders at the helm of our schools, India had a bright future in International Sports. The Guest of Honour, Sh. Jagdev Singh Waraich, General Manager- Corporate Communications and Sports- ONGC, encouraged students to come out and play. The Olympian Ms. Shagun Chowdhary, Indian Trap Shooter, stressed on the role of Sports in shaping the personality of the youth. Mr. Anil Sharam,Ex MLA,R.K.Puram congratulated the Ramjas Foundation for organizing a tournament as big as the RBCL. He went on to say that as the legislator for R.K.Puram he had seen the school grow by leaps and bounds under the able leadership of the Principal, Mrs. Rachna Pant. The Principal, Mrs. Rachna Pant congratulated the winning teams and reiterated the indispensable role of sports in grooming young boys and girls in to well-rounded individuals. She further added that participation in competitive sports helps hone various inter personal skills and facilitates the growth of 21st Century Skills among students shaping them into Global Citizens. The event culminated with a grand Closing Ceremony and instilled a love for sports amongst youngsters.

Fire Fighting Drill

An hour long fire fighting drill was carried out in Ramjas School, R K Puram, New Delhi on 28.1.14 and 29.1.14. The resource person demonstrated various safety measures to combat different emergency situations. The drill helped the teachers and the students to learn the steps to be taken in case of an emergency. The school principal, all the teachers and the students attended it.

Celebration of Club Day

Science Park

A Science Park was inaugurated on 13th February 2010 in Ramjas School, R.K.Puram. The park has been set up in the school in collaboration with the Rotary Club of Delhi , South East. The programme was presided by Mr.Sanjeev Jawahar , President , Rotary Club,Delhi, South East and the school Principal, Ms.Rachna Pant . The objective  of the Science Park is  to act as a cluster of interactive open air play system , designed to fetch knowledge and create interest in basic science facts. To begin  with there are eight models in the Science Park .On this occasion the Rotary Club presented two supporting scholarships of Rs.5000/- each to two students of Class XII. A cultural programme was also organized.

Farewell 2015

The Students of Class XI organized farewell for out going students of Class XII on 31st January 2015. A cultural show which was followed by the Mr and Ms. Ramjas Contest was the highlight of the programme. Principal, Mrs.Rachna Pant and all the teachers wished the outgoing students good luck in the forthcoming Board Exams and for a bright future. The students left with fond memories of their school life, to be cherished for Life Time.

DynamiX -Annual IT Symposium 2015

Since 2001, the Computer Club of Ramjas School RK Puram, "DynamiX", has been hosting its own Inter-school Technology Symposium annually. "Dynamix 15.0" was held on October 14-15,2015, under the aegis of Ramjas Foundation and sponsored by Educomp, and included a plethora of events. An innovation Makeathon was conducted in partnership with Intel, where young innovators made future a reality by hacking into Arduino devices. Blogging was a one-of-a-kind event introduced this year. The event saw the active participation of enthusiastic students from more than 30 top schools of Delhi and NCR. DPS RKP won the Overall Trophy and DPS Vasant Kunj came runners up through the various gruelling competitions. The collaborative effort of the club members and school teachers made DynamiX 15.0 a truly successful venture! Mrs. Rachna Pant, the Principal of Ramjas School gave away the prizes to the leading performers.

International Career Fair

In early January, an international career fair was held at our school. Over 23 institutions from all over the world participated in this fair. It also saw the participation of the Canadian Education Network and premier UK institutions like the University of Leeds and London Institution of Technology. Various quizes and games were also organized
